March 28, 2024 - Deep burgundy but closed down—get oak above fruit and not the dark fruit the color would indicate. Two hours in glass hasn’t changed it much.
Did not rate.
Med+ acidity. Tannins that grow and coat the tongue and cheeks over time. Black cherry, cranberry. Well structured.
This is super young, and built to last. Will re-explore in a few years. 5+ years until round two probably about right. -

August 14, 2023 - Dark fruit, cherries, tannic and stemmy(?) with oak notes present. Notes indicate low stem use and low new oak, maybe massive structure is vintage/site .. Way too young, let these rest, should age on its balance and massive structure. Note: Comment from Jim indicates this is 100% whole cluster, which seems more inline with the structure.

June 11, 2023 - Glassware: Grassl Cru
Prep: Pop n’ pour
Dark maroon color. Deep and brooding nose of ripe blackberry, black cherry, underripe blueberry, dried herbs, smoke, and gamebird. On the palate there is a nice density of fruit and smoky mineral notes complemented by fresh acids and a slight tannic grip. If this was higher in alcohol and a little more ripe it could be a ringer for a Bedrock Heritage wine, which I also love. While I had originally opened this for some sushi we were ordering, this begs for some tonkatsu or food with more heft in general.1 person found this helpful Comment -

June 9, 2023 - Very dark maroon color. Herbal nose. Palate is black cherry and sage brush. It's delicious. If I tasted this blind I would have thought this was a low alcohol restrained California Syrah. Good news, I'm grilling fillets on the barbecue so this hit the jackpot.
Lots of people like to use the term feminine when describing a light Pinot Noir, this is the definition of masculine. -

May 28, 2023 - Well made, and a very terroir driven wine. I can’t say it’s my personal favorite in terms of vineyard due to flavor profile, but I can wholeheartedly say the wine is a pure expression of the vineyard. Dark cherry notes and drives leaves and herbs come through immediately. I want more mushroom to develop, and it may with time, but the wood is a touch strong right now, so we’ll see what a little time might do to further develop this wine. I can’t say enough good things about the producer, and this wine, like so many of theirs is that pure expression of a place and a vintage.
