Geweldig lange afdronk. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 92/100

Color: Deep red with a broad orange-brown edge. Aroma / bouquet: Fragile bouquet with all the characteristics of 'a dignified old man', refined and pleasant. Dried fruit, cedar wood, a pleasant hint of wet forest soil, mushrooms, truffle. Nice complexity. Taste / Finish: Nice balance between bouquet and taste impression. Beautiful and harmonious wine, pleasant soft fresh acidity, buttery tannins. Soft, mouth-filling and beautifully complex. Great long finish. Overall / potential: I drank this wine before, in 2010. At the time, the wine didn't make a big impression on me. Now, 11 years later, he does. Now 32 years old, but still delicious, vital and with an extremely beautiful complexity and balance. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Taste / Finish: 16 + Overall / potential: 8 = 92/100

January 23, 2021 - Inherited 2 bottles from my brother in law who passed away. Opened one to toast him and enjoy with a great meal. Decanted for about 6 hours and was amazed how much fruit is still in this. Beautiful color and nose. It was my first bottle of a wine of this calaber so I apologise for the lack of description but it was a delight to enjoy. Looking forward to the next bottle.

December 24, 2020 - Fully lived up to all expectations. A wonderful expression of Bordeaux.

October 18, 2020 - FWSG 1989 Bordeaux Left Bank horizontal tasting. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, medium intnsity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of animal leather brett, mild elephant dung, meat, blackcurrant, blackberries. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, resolving grippy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of impressively alive blackberries, black cherries, leathery meat, menthol, bell peppers, black smoky charcoal. Long structured finish.
Very good quality. This 1989 Bordeaux is clearly still going strong. Feels like could still develop more!

October 16, 2020 - Fully mature, nice acidity, fruit is a bit muted, drinking well with an hour or so of air. Not particularly memorable, but a very lovely wine indeed.
