July 28, 2023 - Make sure you serve this bottle very well chilled and open it near a sink if you have a bottle of it in your cellar because, despite being served reasonably chilled (12°C) nearly half the contents practically exploded out of the bottle upon opening and the remaining few glasses were like muddy water, so full of sediment that hardly drinkable.
Not a good bottle / experience.... Perhaps partly my fault for opening a Pet Nat at a not fully chilled temperature (though we opened another bottle of sekt at the same temperature after and it was fine...). Or maybe some extra secondary fermentation in the bottle during storage or simply a bottle from the "bottom of the tank"?
If all bottles are like this one though, then probably some kind of manual dégorgement is the way to go!
Would be interested to hear about other experiences with this bottling as usually I love Oszkár Maurer's wines.
