December 12, 2007 - An interesting Port. Heavy forward fruit of black currant and honey that fades quickly to coffee and leather tones which give way just as quickly to the heat from the 20% alcohol. The port has a lingering acid aftertaste that may be from its 4 years in oak. Absent is any of the nut and caramel overtones of many barrel aged ports. Considering it was barrel aged for 4 years and then bottle aged for 4 years the port is fairly simple and lacks the depth I'd expect. Rich in color with a nice nose.
