November 27, 2022 - Finally the 2008-vintage is released and what an absolute treat!
If the cork is correct then this has spent over 13 years on the lees before it's been disgorged in the spring of 2022... Absolutely insane.
100% Chardonnay only from Grand Cru Villages and from more than 40-year-old vines!

Beautiful golden straw color and the bubbles and mousse are super aggressive and lively.

Nose is very powerful with lemon, citrus fruits, green apple, butter, a bit of windfall apple, grapefruit, lemon zest and just a tiny amount of gunpowder.

The palate is straight up 2008 with such an electric and tense acidity - green apple, green pear, citrus fruits, lime zest, grapefruit, pickled lemon, a bit of toasted bread with melted butter and a beautiful clear and crisp minerality!

The tension and balance is there and this is a stunning champagne! It has the depth and weight to it after so much time on the lees, but I think with a few years of bottle-age this could be singing even more!!!
