Community Tasting Notes 10

December 25, 2021 - Single piece cork, no seepage, excellent fill level.
Deeply coloured pommard, indicating barely into secondary development.
Flavours were slightly muted, tasted of some whole cluster fermentation.
Length was pretty average, pommard rusticity was typical on the finish.
The wine was a bit disappointing in terms of intensity given the vintage and age.

    Drink or hold to 2030

February 21, 2016 - Balanced, but average in that it lacks fruit and depth. Notes of tart cherry, menthol and a hint of earth. More acidic than most Pinot's, tannins fading. Decent, but for the price, not a good buy.

January 16, 2015 - Nose of rose petals, iron and a hint of black tea. Kind of a muted palate - lots of crunchy acid, a bit of iron, but not a lot of complexity or fruit. Maybe shut down, but I think more likely just doesn't have much going on to begin with.

December 19, 2014 - Another disappointing Burg. What a frustrating region. The wine was thin, weak, flabby, fruitless and lacked any thing that I find enjoyable in a wine. Cork was in perfect condition and no cork taint or storage issues. In my limited experience with Burgundy I've had a decent bottle or two from Pommard so I figured this was a region I liked. Also in my studying of the region Monopoles are considered desirable so I plunked down $60 seven years ago and got a bottle that was quite a dud.
Going to stick with Bordeaux and Rhone for French wines from now on.

June 17, 2013 - Cooked. Mold under the capsule and wine stains all the way up the cork. Flat, stewed, and oxidative. Damn.
