Community Tasting Notes 5

May 1, 2021 - The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like orange, prune, papaya and butterscotch. It tastes like orange, prune, apricot, pear and papaya. The body is light/medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity. Still drinkable, but was at it's hights approx 5 years ago....

February 18, 2018 - Perfect Haag Spätlese -- slate minerality, perfectly balanced, light, intense, fresh.

January 24, 2015 - Clear straw yellow color. Very nice hue. Nose is full of petroleum but with strong notes of fresh and youthful riesling. After a while in the glass a dusty old wooden cabin emerges. The palate is wonderful. A beautifully crafted balance between the acid and the sweetness in a symphony of pear, rieslingfruit and a thick, creamy mouthfeel. A sting of CO2 initially gives me the false impression of youth to this wine that should not taste so fresh and delightfully young. And after 16 years! Splendid.

March 6, 2012 - I've had six of these in cellar for several years. Opened two recently on separate occasions. Both corked. What a disappointment. No trace of age per se and you can taste just enough through the corkiness to perceive what could have been a wonderful glass. Nevertheless the corkiness made both bottles undrinkable.
