Community Tasting Notes 3

April 6, 2014 - Paris Club dinner with JK (Chicago): Quite musty compared to the DRC, but improved after about an hour with soft fruit, though darker than the DRC. A bit of spice, but more damp earth and mushroom notes. More creamy with less grip on the finish.

April 3, 2014 - Eight (Not Angry) Men Drinking Great Wine (Paris Club - Chicago IL): Open 20-30 minutes before serving. I had high hopes for this wine, given how much I've enjoyed several bottles of Arnoux '71 Suchots over the past two years. This did not disappoint. Soft fruit to start, but almost as much red fruit as earth. Great spice on nose and palate, this was unmistakably Vosne. great mineral and acidity kept adding complexity. More nuance and intensity kept emerging over the course of its hour in glass, but it couldn't last as long as the '71 DRC Richebourg in the next glass.

March 15, 2010 - Dulls out with some air. This never really takes on much class and sits qualitatively below the others. A kiss of spearmint intrigues but overall I didn’t spend too much time with this. While not disappointing by any means, the other wines are simply another level above.
