January 26, 2023 - Wines of Italy Class at the Texas Wine School. 100% organic, old vine Aglianico from 1900' elevation, North-East exposure vineyards. Deep ruby with a purple core. Benefits from a decant yet it still starts out w/ med+ flint and sulfur, which eventually gives way to roses, violets, wild herbs and a touch of cedar from 24 mos. in large oak casks. Dry, but w/ plenty of ripe red fruits, black plum, med+ acidity, tannins and alcohol (13.5%). The palate is consistent w/ the nose, w/ med+ body, flavor intensity and length. Still very youthful, it will benefit from a couple more years of aging.
