January 9, 2024 - Domaine du Vieux Lazaret's 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is an approximate blend of 45% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Bourboulenc and 5% barrel-fermented Roussanne. Popped, poured and serially tasted over a two-hour period, it rapidly blows off some mild reductive notes to reveal an aromatic array of stone fruits, citrus, honey, beeswax, chamomile and dried herbs. Light golden, medium-bodied, medium in acidity and seamlessly alcoholic (14%), it delivers flavors mirroring the nose, accented with a small dollop of wood, Layered on the mid-palate and long on the back end, this is a delicious white Southern Rhone that should be at its best over the next 3-4 years. Serve it at cellar temperature to optimize the aromatics. Drink now-2028.

December 14, 2023 - With some waxy yellow fruit to it. On the nose that is. And more texture on the palate. Certainly something of great interest.

October 15, 2023 - A very respectable sampling. This is well produced with complexity and length on flavor. Aromatically it is flat with hard to find wet limestone, and some lemon peel. In mouth its dry and drying more. Uncomfortable mouthfeel but emerging mid palate of apricot skin, brioche and cedar wood. I bet this wine scores much much higher in 3-5 years. Not scoring tonight but this wine has potential for low 90's.

May 14, 2023 - Restaurant pop and pour. Mild Grapefruit on the nose. Really interesting chard that shows some butter across the palate but this too is mild
with an interesting counterbalance of crispness or purity.

Mrs Davidandrose insists that I find some of this for the cellar. It's that good. 92+ today.
