    November 5, 2019 - Riverside Wine & Spirits Burgundy Tasting: pale garnet; very good vintage, quite tannic

    May 22, 2018 - [Totally get comments by Keith Levenberg and Dream}
    Purchased on release, professional storage, PopNPour. NOT a powerhouse, rather a beauty; and
    Reeks of Grand Cru quality fruit, hard to imagine anything other than Gevry, tasted after a very good 2012 Maranges 1er cru Fussieres, this wine is two quality levels up. Ripe, rich but not BIG - a dancing medium bodied wine - just delicious and complex and satisfying. The quality of the fruit here is top level. Not profound or intoxicating tonight, but I may be underestimating this wine, the balance is impeccable. [Really balanced in a way that elevates the whole package, not balanced in a way the only guarantees adequacy of some element].

    Super nose, red > black fruit with black fruit structure, lively palate and excellent persistence (length), gorgeous damansk rose aromatics. Not profound, not intoxicatingly scented like great Clos de Tart; and the balance while super is not at level of Musigny. One of the most pleasant 2005 wines I have had in the last 5 years; will mentally go into the same class as the Faiveley Corton Clos de Corton. Superb wine.

    January 27, 2018 - Well, somebody had to take one for the team and see what's inside this bottle of '05 Beze that's been showing up suspiciously cheap on all the auction sites. I've had impressive stuff with the Lesec name from the Rhone. This is obviously not the greatest time to be opening any 2005s, but this one actually isn't all that difficult to get at. Raw, raging tannin greets you at the outset as expected, but with a bit of air it civilizes itself and gets seriously refined, almost lacy. I sometimes forget how elegant Beze can be since it's usually deemed something of a powerhouse. This one is not a heavyweight by any means but still has that piercingly ripe '05 fruit peeping out. It never gets entirely free of radio static from the tannins but this ought to be really pretty one of these days. For now, it can be appreciated but not exactly enjoyed.

    December 28, 2016 - This lacks the dark color of most '05's at this point and shows some fading on the edges. The nose is light and not fully developed. On the palate the wine is also not showing the depth I would expect from this vintage and vineyard but there is lovely, elegant cherry fruit with a nice red spice/medicinal note on the finish. I will give it some more time in the cellar but it's a bit disappointing to me at this stage. 88+
