February 20, 2019 - A fragrant nose that is peppery and smokey with delicate cassis notes, some spices, and subtle oak. Despite its age, no very developed tertiary notes.
On the palate: very balanced and fragrant, medium body, medium alcohol, low tannins. Good length with cassis and floral notes lingering.
A very juicy and enjoyable, complex wine that can develop further.

August 11, 2017 - W-S Friday Tasting - Gaillard and a NZ Pinot Gris (Auckland, NZ): Medium plus ruby color.
Aromatic nose - ripe blackberry, refined smoked ham, savory white pepper, dry forest floor.
Dry, medium body, medium alcohol, high acid, medium tannins.

Excellent tension and flavor development on the midpalate. Shows some savory tamari tertiary notes from age, but still early in its evolution. My favorite of the set.

A good example of a modern, non-classic Rhone Syrah. Like their basic Côte-Rôtie, this saw 18 months in 50% new French oak, but this wine holds it better. I didn't pick up overt oak notes, and the sweetness is offset by the high acidity.

June 17, 2017 - extremely ripe almost over ripe fruit, drying oak tannins.
    tiring to drink

May 8, 2016 - This has definitely improved. Decanted two hours prior (TONS of sediment). The oakiness is still there, but not OTT any more. I have one more - could open now, but will leave for 5 years or so, I hope.
