  April 24, 2024 - This was a stunning barbaresco, and based on the tasting notes here and from the critics my expectations were sky high. On open, aromas of cherry, earth, rose and some other floral notes. Palate was same as above plus a little chocolate and some woodsy/savory note. What was special though was the intensity of these flavors and aromas. I don’t think I’ve ever had a Nebbiolo with such density. At first I thought the tannins were not that strong, but after sipping the bottle over more or less a whole day my conclusion is that the tannins are actually pretty robust but the initial intensity of flavor was so much that the tannins were less noticeable. In fact, after about eight hours of air it essentially tasted like a really good bottle of Barolo right after opening. It had cherries, earth and rose with very robust tannins, but the intensity of flavors was much less than when I had just opened the bottle.
  
  I think my conclusion is, either open and decant right away and then drink immediately or keep it for like ten years. But given how amazing it is right away, I would say just drink it. I have five more bottles so I’ll probably keep a couple for a while just to see what happens.

  February 28, 2024 - An eclectic night (Trapet, Duroché, Yquem,...) (Tøyen, Oslo): Very nice, though for every bottle I drink of this, they become increasingly juicy and, dare I say, void of tannins. I seem to recall a bottle in the autumn with grippy tannins, where they went, I have no idea.
  
  It showed almonds on the nose alongside tar, roses and cherry.
  
  Supple and round, with a dusty strawberry finish.

  Bright red berry nose with rose stems and coffee.
  
  Very round and smooth palate, even more so than a bottle 2 months ago, appears ready to drink, which makes me wonder about its longevity..
  
  Either way, very high quality stuff.

  December 25, 2023 - My experience with the 2016 Don Fiorino was consistent with Hugo Hilde’s note. A thoroughly enjoyable wine, it showed a lot of dark fruit, roundness, and had a very smooth and easy drinking finish. I was a but struck by the lack of structure relative to other recently tasted 2016 Nebbiolos, such as the Vajra Ravera and Oddero Rocche di Castiglione. I do think this wine is best for near to medium term enjoyment.

  December 25, 2023 - An ode to the the parish priest who united 19 growers in 1958 and created the Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative. The Produttori last made a multi-vineyard Riserva in 1990.
  
  Decanted about 45m then consumed over two hours with a braised Tuscan black pepper short rib & polenta.
  
  Plum, cranberry, black pepper, forest after a rain, cherry, Christmas fruit cake, licorice, hint of rose petal.
