December 15, 2023 - Found this in my 2005 stash and so glad I stood it up a month ago.. Cork was in good shape with only a 1/4 inch run. Some bricking on the rim. Wine started out reticent with a nose of damp forest floor or damp leaves like some Bordeaux wines. This blew off with decant and swirling so that some dark fruit emerged on the nose. The tannin was a little rough initially but quickly smoothed out to let anise, tobacco and spice mingle with the dark plummy fruit. My wife tasted a raisin note as did I. It just kept getting better and more complex with air and leaving a 30 second finish on the mid palate. A bit of iron minerality appears after four hours decanted. The wine was a good match for grilled lamb for dinner and dark chocolate for dessert. This wine is fully mature but has a few years of life but why wait if you have some?

March 19, 2013 - - Garnet color and aromas of blackberry. It's balanced and has flavours of raspberry and black pepper with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Surprisingly quite nice, still holding up rather well. mellow tannins, jammy fruit

September 20, 2009 - Popped and poured. Medium-plus black cherry hue. Forward aromas of plummy black fruits and black cherry with herbs and a savory, roasted element (espresso perhaps). Med. to medium-plus body. On the palate, this Merlot is surprisingly complex with nice notes of black and red fruits on the front with notes of dark chocolate and anise underneath and an herbaceous component that keeps it fresh. Oak tinged finish with smooth, round tannins. Fairly fruit forward yet drinks with surprising elegance. Just good Merlot and a definite QPR selection.
