Community Tasting Notes 3

  • bsumoba Does not like this wine:

July 3, 2023 - Blind Tasting at Mi Casa: I'm not normally a fan of writing reviews like this, but it must be said. I will preface this TN with the fact that this is a newly released wine and I have no experience with this producer prior, so it could be that these nice needs some cellar time. I have one bottle and it will not see the light of day again for maybe 10+ years. Lots of bell pepper on the nose and palate. Maybe cherries which have been left with freshly cut bell peppers? This was #5 of 5 in the blind tasting. Not my style, but we shall see in 10 years.

July 3, 2023 - Blind pinot tasting (The Sumoba compound): Nose of deep green and savory peppers with a background of dark red fruits. On day 2, berry notes surface more but it's as if the berries have thin green pepper skins instead.

Flavors similar to the nose, with red fruits glowing and shining a bit brighter on the palate. Not much change on the palate for day 2.

[Blind rank: 5th out of 5]

May 6, 2023 - Blind Santa Barbara pinot tasting (FermentedBeast's Lair): N: Roasted shishito peppers and green bell peppers. This doesn't change even with a few hours of air time.

P: Matches nose completely. With a few hours of airing out, the grilled shisito peppers loosens up only a bit, making some room for dark red fruits with strong a salinity to it. The shishito peppers covers up the other notes a lot, if there are any. I had to really dig for the fruit.

This bottle ranked 4th in the lineup.
