March 12, 2021 - Deep garnet and color with slight bricking edge. Nose of stewed strawberries, crushed dark berries, with hints of a autumnal spices. Lovely tastes of crushed dark berries, autumnal spices, with hints of leather. Resolved tannins. On the fruity side at this point but drinking nicely. Improved after being opened multiple days. Drink over the next 2 to 4 years.

May 16, 2019 - Wow, has aged into a beautiful CDP. I reviewed the 2015, which I thought needed some time, and opening the 2005 shows what these wines can do with some age. Ready to drink.

January 6, 2018 - As second wines of Chateauneufs go, this is quite good. Nicely red fruity with a smooth mouth feel. Not a fruit bomb by any means. The reason I say second wine is that is what Chateauneuf has by and largely become. Make the comparison to Bordeaux. There is, for example, Chateaux Latour, and a second wine Les Fort de Latour. Well, all these Chateauneuf estates now have luxury cuvees, in the case of Grand Tinel, Cuvee Alexis Establet, and their stripped out regular wine is basically their second wine. It is pretty much mirrors what Bordeaux does in cuvee selection. So, in future, I will refer to these regular basic label wines as second wines, and let me suggest we all should.

November 8, 2015 - Second Sunday Group: Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Vertical 1986-1996 (Our house): Opens with a nice earthy funk followed by spice, red fruit and herb qualities. Pepper and spice accompany the red fruit through the lingering finish. Very good.

July 10, 2013 - Disappointing. Too ripe and nothing but kirschy fruit.
