-dark red purple minimal edge clearing
-low-key cassis
-med acidity, med weight earthy softly fruited cassis enveloped by a pillow of med+ chalky chewy tannins
-no idea why I thought this would be ready to drink but figured I'd give it a try ahead of the offering of the next vintage, structured and unadorned, and in need of at least 3-5 years to shed some tannins1 person found this helpful Comment -

October 15, 2023 - Dark purple, powerful nose of red and blue fruits. Big mouthful of fruit with a touch of herbs coming through. But mostly fruit. Maybe just drank way too early but this didn’t do it for me at all. It’s not badly made at all but just came across as way too “grape juicy” for my taste.

April 1, 2023 - Arnot-Roberts Spring 2023 open house: tasty Bordeaux blend under an unassuming "California Red Wine" label.
dark purplish red with ruby edges and medium-plus body in the glass. the nose exudes red and blue fruit with whiffs of dust and evergreens. fresh, full and juicy in the mouth; spicy and herbal notes appear mid-palate; and a massive tannic spine gives the wine a lot of texture.
there is an immediacy to the fruit flavour that makes this wine approachable and drinkable now (with a good decant), but also great fruit, acidity, tannins and balance that would allow for great development going forward. i'll let my bottles lay down for a bit and see where the wine goes.
12.5% AbV; 60% Cab Sauv (from three vineyard sites), 20% Cab Franc (from Chalk Hill AVA), 20% Merlot (Carmel Valley AVA); each site destemmed and vinified separately; after blending aged in a mix of concrete egg (50%) and neutral oak (50%)1 person found this helpful Comment
