Community Tasting Notes 5

January 24, 2018 - Too modern and polished for my taste, but has held up remarkably well after 13 years. Hot, somewhat flat finish. Still if your taste leans towards Super-Tuscans, you might want to investigate. I can imagine oodles of jam at a younger age.

September 12, 2010 - Nice fruit. Good everyday wine. Good value

    January 25, 2009 - WIML86

Tasted January 25, 2009. Purchased from the list at Taverna in Fort Worth, TX for $40.00 per bottle.

Opened and served immediately. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Light nose and palate of simple red fruits with a weak, slightly thin finish. Drink over the short term.

November 3, 2008 - I believe this bottle was very slightly off, every now and then I would catch a faint whiff of TCA. The taint was slight enough, though, that the bottle was still somewhat enjoyable. The vibrancy of the Sangiovese was offset by a softness that muted the fruit a little too much (Canaiolo?), and also suffered from an unusual vegetal quality (perhaps young-vine Cabernet Sauvignon?) that kept this wine from being what I thought it would be when I bought it. Still, I strongly suspect that I would like a better example of this wine very much.

January 26, 2008 - This is just a great everyday wine--a poor man's Brunello. It has echoes of the same blackberry, dark cherry and earth flavors of the Big B at a pittance $12/bottle. Nose is pleasant but indistinct, not as brooding as many Sangioveses. Decent finish. All round a pleasure. Would buy again.
