June 4, 2023 - From San Luigi in Dogliani the Reichmuth couple crafts a Dolcetto that plays in the same league as Roddolo and Bocca (San Fereolo). The winning recipe is of course low yields, careful wine making and time, lots of time. This wine ferments without added yeasts and ages for four years in big, old botti and then in bottle until it's ready for the market. Crsta is only produced in the very best vintages and 2009 is the current release of this wine.
Deep and multi layered nose with dark cherry, plums, damp soil, old balsamico, violets, stable and charred meat. Full bodied with serious structure. Great intensity and length. Rustic and clearly old school in the best way. Ready to drink but I cannot see this going downhill in the nearest future.
