January 31, 2021 - Flirting with profound and amazing. The nose was there and the palate too — loved it after an hour or two open. At with the wrong meal, which may have skewed things.

Definitely in a very drinkable place, with plenty of structure still there

February 14, 2020 - At first very hard. Opens a bit after an hour in the decanter. Still young ruby. Incredible Gevery aromas of earth, wet leaves, and wild mortal mushrooms. A bit hard and edgy palate. Rust and tense bark. Great texture but not forgiving. Not sure if this will get much better but has some great components. Long but quite tannic finish

July 27, 2018 - IPNC Weekend 2018; 7/26/2018-8/2/2018 (Linfield College, McMinnville, OR): Dark red color. Drank a glass over 45 minutes. More ready than the last bottle, this showed the same profile of deep red berry, soil and iron, with a distinct spiciness, but it was much more giving and lively. Probably still not all the way there yet, but this was a PNP. 91+(+)pts.

February 23, 2017 - Small Plates and Mix of Aged Wines (Craig & Nita's Place): Dark red color. I believe this had gotten a pretty healthy decant before serving. Drank 1 glass over 90 minutes plus. Definitely tight, red berry, earth and mineral with hints of fennel. The palate is earthy, soil, murky dark red fruits, deeply spiced, hints of celery later. Agree wholeheartedly with Chablis28's take on this. Really they just need more time, not real giving yet. 90+(+)pts.

February 23, 2017 - If the 2007 Tortochot Charmes Chambertin was singing tonight and true to its vintage this 2005 Rossignol Trapet was stubborn and more austere like so many 2005s at this stage. We're all excited for the day when these 2005s rock but they're mostly not ready for primetime yet. Not even at age 11 plus. There are a few that have been close to ready and enjoyable but most need a at least a few more years. This wine is typical of most 2005s I've had. Not ready! It shows promise with its earthy minerally classic "Gevery earth" notes. Some signs of fruit and spice. Better the first night. The left over pour on day 2 turned more tannic and stand offish. If you own then, don't touch for at least 3 years. 90pts on day 1 / 87pts at best on day 2.
