Community Tasting Notes 5

November 10, 2011 - Got a small taste of a bottle that had been opened for a few hours. Old world nose of tobacco, spices, and light cherries. On the palate dark ripe berries, chocolate, tobacco and soft tannins.

August 9, 2011 - Dark purple color, a pleasant nose of cherries & spice. The palate was soft, good tannin, smooth. Starts well but with a weak finish.

September 26, 2009 - More reflective of the cabernet in the blend than the sangiovese...but slightly more acidic. Nicely matched with grilled lamb chops.

July 22, 2009 - Light red color. Funky barnyard and spice scent. Medium to light body, currant flavor with slightly green tannins.

July 7, 2009 - I would tend to think the note below did not have a chance to let this wine breathe for a while (sort of confirmed by the mention of the green tannins). I don't say that to criticize, merely because when this fully opened up (took near 2 hours in the decanter) it was a really delicious wine! Classic flavors of the region: dark dark ripe berries, oak, dark chocolate, cigarbox, with a nice tartness and acidity. Very nice wine at this price point... be sure to let it breathe as long as it needs!
