Community Tasting Notes 10

  • ChipP68 Does not like this wine:

January 20, 2024 - Ok wine for the price

  • Red White Likes this wine: 87 points

    October 17, 2023 - Decent everyday drinker.
    Short finish, but good balance.
A little more acidity wouldn’t hurt

September 4, 2023 - CA chardonnays tend to elicit reviews that are mildly entertaining but generally useless as everyone seems to have some different idea on what it should be. from an austere white Burgundy to the classic CA oak bomb. I’m pleased to say that this particular wine is somewhere in the middle of all that :-). A pale straw color with light melon and citrus on the nose. It’s actually kind of neutral on the palate, almost to a fault. I would love more flavors of almost any kind at this point. If anything it’s so pedestrian there isn’t much to comment on. A moderate finish with a hint of astringency is all one is left with. You don’t pay much for it at about $12 so there’s only so much room for complaint there :-) Given the histrionics of some other reviews I’m actually disappointed at the utter blandness of this wine. I don’t think I’d buy this vintage again but it wasn’t so bad as to chase me from the brand of even this wine in a future vintage.

August 13, 2023 - Full but not offensive

  • Tim Heaton Does not like this wine:

July 28, 2023 - A travesty. A friend asked me to pick up some everyday wines from his local Costco, and so I grabbed one of these to sate my own curiosity whilst doing so, not having had a Chardonnay from the Russian River in some years, let alone one carrying the Kirkland flag. Well, if this is any indication, and I'm going to choose to see this as a limited instance, and not a judgment for all Kirkland branded wines, regarding the state of affairs at the top of the Costco wine buyer food chain. That said, this low-acid, lifeless wine is perhaps good enough to use as a cooking wine to repurpose for some insignificant weeknight leftovers. I seldom write negative notes, but this was an assault on common decency. AVOID.
