August 7, 2022 - Brown sugar, earthy, lightly green but also the heat. This tells more story of the vintage than anything else. 89

June 21, 2021 - 2006 vintage opened in 2021. Fragrance > taste. Medium viscosity, strong sweet cherries, light graphite fragrance. Dry, light body, light tannins, high alcohol. Dry tart fruity finish.

July 30, 2012 - Tasted blind: Harsh nose with some heat and espresso beans and chocolate. Firm, almost agressive tannins, no elegance whatsoever. Some weird green notes among this ripeness. Only the finish gives away Burgundy but this is a mess. I guessed Burgundy but was surprised to see the producer was Courcel. The fruit is not jammy, just too much extraction and lacks acidity.
    This was undrinkable.

November 21, 2008 - Drinking such a ridiculously young Pommard may raise the eyebrows of the good Dr Weinberg and the ire of Tom Blach but I’ll soldier on. The oak elements are obvious, imparting a little cola to the aroma and cream to the mouthfeel at the same time protecting one’s mouth somewhat from the abrasive attributes of youthful minerals. The fruit flavours are a little shy but definitely of the red persuasion and there is a strap of liquorice and waft of smoked meats adding complexity. It is painfully young with a tightly bound, muscular finish and yet gave me plenty of enjoyment as it scythed through a roast leg of Barossa lamb leaving a wonderful impression of earth and fruit in my mouth.

January 9, 2008 - Medium red. Closed pinot nose, elegant. Medium weight. Good acidity and definition. Medium term drinking. Compared equally well with the Grand Clos des Epenots. Both are rather old-fashioned Pommards in that there is a hint of rusticity about them, but none the worse for that. Estimated maturity: 2012+. Rating: 89-91
