February 14, 2020 - Limited Release, bottle No. 12670. Six years ago I said that I would keep my final bottle until 2020, and I did. The colour is now a full yellow, with a golden sheen; the nose is a lovely blend of citric freshness, candied (but not oxidised) fruit and waxy bottle-age (shoe polish); the palate is still fresh and youthful, all citrus and minerals, with slightly pronounced bitters; good resonance and length. A lovely way to celebrate an old love on this Valentine’s Day: the aromas are mature, but the core is still fresh!

December 18, 2015 - Beat your 2015 WOTY Dinner: Has come out of its shell and is showing a good amount of development. Mint, lemon curd, honeysuckle and oranges. The palate is really well balanced, with the toasty and honeyed edges in place, but with some youth still remaining. Not yet at its peak, but not that far off.

June 29, 2014 - London Blind Challenge (Vinotecca, London.): Blind. Mid straw. Dry, quite minerally. With quite grassy aromatics. A slight waxiness here too, but overall quite light and minerally. Maybe something like the Vergelegen estate wine with a SB/Sem blend. With a bit more air the grassy character fades and the wine doesn't have the alcohol for Vergelegen. Hunter Semillon then, probably McWilliams. Interesting and enjoyable wine. ****

June 14, 2014 - Level base of neck. Lively appearance, intense yellow colour; citrus, flowers, steel and toast, lovely balance and tension, taut but with sufficient roundness to avoid austerity, incredibly lively and crisp for a 14 year old wine, slightly light on the finish. Showing very well today. I think this is at peak and I do not believe that this will develop the added complexity that justifies extended further ageing. I have one bottle left however, which I will keep until 2020.
