August 30, 2017 - Rich and voluptuous and drinking very young. This is the youngest 69 of any wine I have ever had and one of the best showings from 69 of any wine I have had. Not a great year in the wine world but you wouldnt know it from this wine. Dark and no bricking. Loads of red fruits and with time in the glass this added leather and some saddle. Great bottle.

August 29, 2017 - Rich nose with attractive dirty notes. Dark raspberry across the palate with a youthful amount of acidity on the finish. Great bottle of this wine.

February 24, 2017 - Unico tasting (27 different vintages) at the Rheingau Gourmet Festival 2017: nice garnet colour; rather complex but not intense nose with different berries, mint and bready aromas; however in the mouth thin aromas and texture.

    Vintages 2nd flight: 1964-1965-1966-1967-1969

March 10, 2013 - Had 2 bottles on the night, decanted for 30 minutes and very similar. Brittle corks in both cases. The wine is definitely alive and although well aged by now still has quite a bit of fruit however it lacks vitality. It is as if it is in a plateau. Light on the body. Vega is Vega and although this is good it is not magical. 92 drink now.

October 21, 2009 - Thirty vintages of Vega Sicilia Único 1953-1999; 10/20/2009-10/21/2009 (Institute of Directors, London): Spirity whisky nose, dried cherry fruit, a bit pinched, but fine
