  October 18, 2020 - Earthy, leather, dark berries, significant tannins. Met up nicely with spicy sausage pasta and chocolate creme brulee.

  April 13, 2016 - I think this is starting to come down the other side of the hill. Full rich nose has loads of fresh blackberry fruit and modest hints of citrus and pepper with a little heat. Palate is full bodied and rich -- really dominated by fruit texture and flavor. Feels slightly flabby and as though the acids are fading. A bit one note and that note is fruit which is now starting to fade. I think Mike's north coast (and JBV) syrahs age better and have more complexity.

  September 5, 2015 - Have to agree with most of the other posts, I really like the structure and "weight" of this wine. Even nine years old, very dark inky colour out of the bottle, great syrah telltale nose of plums, dark red fruit and a touch of smoke. The palate is very generous, I love when wines like this are so complex as to leave even some savory characteristics. Finish was nice and long, last sip was best. I happen to find a single bottle of this very small production wine in NYC, if you are lucky enough to get some (at an amazing price I might add), I'd recommend decant and drink now, though waiting up to 5 years won't do any harm either. This bottle is evidence that Carlisle is an undervalued syrah producer in my opinion.

  April 11, 2015 - Popped, poured, and followed for 24+ hours. This was real pleasant and, while still showing youngish, has a great presence about it. On the pop and pour, it was a bit tight, loosening up over a couple of hours on night one, but day two showed a much more complete wine. The hallmark Rosella's pink grapefruit and acidity are here keeping things fresh, against a somewhat lactic/creamy background. Tannins are softening, but this is still on the early side of its drink-window for my palate. Tasty, if not heady or overly complex, but a fun drink and paired nicely with grilled tri-tip.
