Community Tasting Notes 5

December 30, 2013 - Earthy, leather, on the nose; cassis, dark berries and cherry dominate the palate. I'm glad I decided to open this bottle over this holiday season. I expect this wine would only decline from this point forward. Drink now and enjoy.

September 19, 2012 - Moderate bricking. It is developing some nice secondary notes along with red fruits and meat aromas. Medium weight with good extract and moderate acidity. Nicely balanced with a sweet finish.

March 18, 2012 - Drank side-by-side w/Rousseau Clos de Beze. Good, but pales in comparison. Fairly significant bricking at this point. Interesting nose dominated by meat and truffle oil notes. Good acidity and a fair bit of tension overall on the palate. Fading fruit not replaced with enough secondary components to raise it up a notch or two, however. A little bit of heat comes through as well. Now + 3-5 years seems about right for this.

February 23, 2012 - Pre-La Paulee Dinner at Zachys Auction and After-Party (Michael Mina and RN74 - San Francisco CA): Charming fruit, even if not powerful in the classic manner of Chambertin-Clos de Beze. Good spice and finesse with a surprisingly long finish given just modest density. At its peak today.

A Rather modern nose with some heat on the finish. Smoky oak but with an interesting earthiness and iodine notes.
    Enjoyable.
