  July 17, 2016 - 38th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2011s (R&D's): I preferred this to the Geyserville between the ten year olds (which served as last night's warm up reds). Cherry, raspberry and bramble notes. Cherry, pepper and lush, ripe Zin fruit with a good finish. I thought the Ridge was a bit too ripe and rustic, whereas this just had really fresh and luscious red fruit.

  August 6, 2011 - First pop of the cork seemed to bring aromas of red wine vinegar... Decanted and this initial impression seemed to blow off. Medium ruby color, with red zin fruits on the nose. Light on the palate with briar spice, strawberries, black pepper, and with air starting to show some candied cherry. Mild touch of french oak on the finish. Well balanced and drinking fine at age 5.
