April 18, 2024 - This wine showed well in my wine club's recent 2000 Bordeaux tasting. Initially quite dumb, it blossomed with time in the glass. Given more time, I think it would have surpassed my favorite of the evening, 2000 Figeac, which I rated a 95. I would describe this wine simply as "understated elegance". Suggest a long decant for this wine if consumed at this time.

April 5, 2024 - Deep concentration of red fruits an semi dark fruits on the nose. Taste sits right on the mid palate( middle of my tongue) tannins are soft an slightly grainy acidity is there but in balance with the tannins. Wine has great structure. I feel the bottle can still age a have a better showing. Finish does last long but it is a strong finish. U can tell from the nose the wine has concentration but the palate doesn’t follow in the footsteps of the nose. Still very good I do get some terroir an some pencil shavings on the nose as well. Slight tart red fruit flavor but nothing like u get from Pinot noirs. Feel like the finish gives me soft blue fruit flavors similar to blueberries Great wine all in all. I let this have about 4 hours of air btw before tasting.

March 28, 2024 - From a lot of bottles purchased at retail with like-new fills. A small glass was previously removed from this bottle via Coravin (on 3/16/24).

This bottle showed very well after uncorking and a decant of about an hour. Whereas it was previously thin and uneven, today it was quite concentrated, pure, even, and very well balanced. There were lots of dusty tannins and just a perfect amount of acidity. It was rather undeveloped, though, and there was nothing tertiary going on yet.

This is clearly a great wine with a ton of substance, but a lack of development is holding it back. It was a bit simple and slab sided at this point. I won’t touch another of these for maybe five years. 13% ABV (great/****/17/94)

It has something but it just is not ready yet.

March 18, 2024 - (94+ Points) Deep purple garnet. Powerful red & wild berry fruit, still with some sappy freshness. Iron tinged rare beef, musky blueberry, raspberry & red cherry/berry coulis. The only wine still with some primary fruit.
Very close 2nd WOTN (to me)

(Leoville-Las Cases) Dark almost mauve-like color. Dark, somber nose. I don't know , desert night came to mind. Dark fruits. Little game. Minerality. You could tell there was amazing material here. Just a behemoth on the palate and an endless red fruit cascade on the finish. Perfect delineation. Perfect balance. Endless fruit
