December 19, 2021 - From a magnum. More approachable than the 750 I enjoyed two years ago. The energy was still there and the fruit more present, mainly sweet black berry notes, along with touches of violet, bitter mocha and chewy tannins

December 15, 2021 - Birthday Wine Dinner: Currant, tobacco and cherry. Youthful, and the fruit is still just a tad primary. Should age well.

Fast Pauillac-like. Extrem langer Abgang, in Wellen kommend.

December 4, 2021 - 5 bottles served on the day all beautifully consistent . Decanting helps for sure but the wine is singing from start to finish.
The oak is fully assimilated , the fruit is healthy and every much present but evolved and there is a very pretty secondary side that adds to the complexity of the wine. Leathery too, soft spice and light savory feel. Definitely has evolved and has opened up a lot vs 4 yrs ago when we thought of it as closed down ( Papies 91-93) . An impressive 94-95 on this day and with lots of life ahead.

November 10, 2021 - Stubbornly hanging on to its adolescence, the wine is firm, fresh, bright, chewy, and full-bodied. Still tight, yet, there is no denying the potential here, with its layers of spicy red currants, cedar, tobacco, cigar box, and earth. It is probably going to take until 2030 for this to be civilized. At that point, my score could look conservative.

Rockss and Fruit

(Leoville-Las Cases) Dark almost mauve-like color. Dark, somber nose. I don't know , desert night came to mind. Dark fruits. Little game. Minerality. You could tell there was amazing material here. Just a behemoth on the palate and an endless red fruit cascade on the finish. Perfect delineation. Perfect balance. Endless fruit
