July 24, 2020 - Some colour evolution. Remnants of delicate red fruit with some tertiary aromas. Soft entrance and juiciness. Well balanced wine up to the final. A joy to drink. Allard Botenga

June 15, 2020 - Cork was saturated and crumbly. Considering its poor condition, the wine was better than expected. Meaning, it lacked the grip and power that mature PC can have, but the color was decent and after a one-hour decant, dried cherries and tangy apricot fruit leather showed up to provide balance. Tannins still evident.

March 22, 2017 - Very fresh and vibrant. The nose has some lead pencil, cedar, tobacco and dark, briary fruits. It is beautifully balanced in the mouth, with the grip and power of Pauillac and the complexity and ethereal notes that some bottle age brings. Tannins are supportive and length very good.

June 26, 2016 - Interesting that I began with half a case of this wine as wine future. My first taste was when this wine was just shy of age 20. It didn't show well at all. It tasted cooked. Interestingly my last two bottle have been very good. The wine tonight was smoky and spicy on the nose. The color is bricky but the core is still red and dark. Lots of structure to this great 86 from Pouillac. On the palate there is plenty of minerals, spices and the toasty taste of a mature Bordeaux. A couple of bottles opened much earlier in the wine's life tasted cooked and pruny. Somehow another decade later this wine actually tasted better. My wife thought it was a bit metallic and she didn't care for the high degree of dustiness. It is austere but I didn't mind that.
