January 3, 2014 - Nose of stewed cherry, strawberry, and spice (clove, cinnamon, cola, grapefruit zest), then a hint of banana. Palate shows juicy, powerful fruit (cherry, strawberry, blackberry) and ground spices (clove, black pepper, cinnamon). There's a hint of vinegar, which is unwelcome but not too intrusive. The strong flavours are matched by strong alcohol and moderate acid/tannin, giving the wine a semblance of balance even though the structure has dissolved.
