Community Tasting Notes 8

March 18, 2023 - A bit of funk but generally a juicy red fruited and forest floor profile I find quite appealing. Medium body and not as structured or as closed as others wines of this vintage with bright acidity and fine length.

March 15, 2023 - Decanted for 2 hours. My favorite red of the flight. Pure red cherry on the nose, a touch of VA and funk. The palate is sublime, pure red cherry fruit with a lovely texture, silky and slightly salty. There’s an energetic sorbet-like fruit element to the palate that is very compelling. Medium finish, in a very good spot today.

April 17, 2021 - Still very tight , deep and long but needs more time , despite 2013+ being Burghound advisory.

February 29, 2020 - Popped and poured, consuming over 2 nights. This note is from night 2. Spicy black cherry nose, showing little degrading on day 2. Deep, tart cherry flavors, lively with lots of structure and tannin. The finish is long with a drying element that lingers. Should show better in another 5+ years.

November 16, 2018 - I figured that the lightest of all producers might be somewhat approachable at this time. Whoops. I think this is a wine that definitely shows greatness -- there's plenty of coiled stuffing, fruit, and earth that all are not on open display. It's sort of odd, the lighter style and the heavier terroir, but I think this may yet work with some more time in the bottle. In hindsight, opening this wasn't the wisest thing to do, but a useful intellectual exercise nonetheless.
