Community Tasting Notes 1

January 12, 2024 - Love this wine, and 2021 is as good as ever.

Lifted and complex nose: black and blue fruits, some blood orange, airy peppercorns and olives, violets, crushed stone, a little camphor, cigar ash, and charred meat. So elegant and fresh on the palate, this has the intensity of a great Cote Rotie, but on a lighter frame, and it's also less oaky than many of those wines. Long and complex finish, this has gorgeous chiaroscuro, as well as a most engaging combo of acid cut and plush velvety tannins, sweet dark fruit and myriad delicate earthy, floral and umami tones linger beautifully as the structure fades. This is primary and very promising, it will probably take 10+ years to turn any major corner, and it'll surely last 20+ years in a proper cellar.
