December 30, 2023 - Beautiful berry nose. Wonderful gentle tannins with perfect balance. Went very well with eggplant pasta w spicy sausages.

March 8, 2021 - Wonderful dark red fruit notes are accompanied by Mediterranean spice, garrigue and tilled soil. So much going on in the glass. Layers upon layers of goodness. The tannins are so silky now. Aromatically pleasing. Good juice.

February 7, 2021 - Wonderful blue and red fruit with touches of tobacco and earthy notes. Silky smooth texture. At age 16, this wine has so much complexity and personality. There are at least a handful of years of enjoyment left, but no need to defer the gratification. Good juice.

January 1, 2021 - I gave this wine a slow ox for two hours before dinner. This wine exceeded my expectations in every way! Dark fruit is complimented by a wonderfully spice notes. Amazingly silky texture with good depth. Medium weight but intellectually in the top of the class. This wine has the “X” factor that I chase. Great juice.

December 23, 2020 - A boire, très agréable, mais probablement un peu sur le déclin

(Hacienda Monasterio Ribera Del Duero) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very ripe; almost dessert like; a bit of a Grape Nuts component; deep dark black fruit & coffee elements (Plum flavored coffee); some Oak Monster; TASTE-so smooth; it's like somebody took a velvet glove and stuck it in your mouth; very heavy on real pure French licorice reduction; grape nuts component; very rich; blackberry; wild brush on the finish; great balance; a little too much licorice, too hot & oaked; but most people would love this; if you're a Napa Cab or Barossa Shiraz fan, you would really love this and think it was a 92-92 point wine; (joe g says, "this wine tastes purple. so long, so rich; so lush; the tannins are shockingly mellow; but the acid is bright, crisp & fresh which makes the wine really, really lively. I'm all about this wine -- it's got balance, length, depth, layers and love."; JM-93; JG-92+ ; GV-91
