    February 23, 2024 - Color: medium gold
Nose: intense, yellow roses, hot plastic, anise pastille, oats, grapefruit, pollen
Palate: high acidity, medium-full bodied, balance a bit off at this stage imo due to the acidity that is really searing
    Finish: long

This is young but it has a lot of potential in my opinion. The nose is very rich and layered, and at this stage I think it requires a lot of air - more than an hour - to really show what it has. But even right out of the bottle the complexity is impressive. Then the mouth is lean but intense, it doesn't show the same complexity but this is perhaps because this wine will shine in a few years - 3 or more I'd guess. Food wine today. Definitely it has the structure to go for a while though I'm not super experienced with aging carricante. For sure what I have gets better 2-3 years after release and this one is the one I've thought had the most to benefit from a little time, so I'll wait for the next ones.

November 5, 2023 - At Aeris. Another fascinating example of Sicilian wines brought over from Rhys purchased vineyards. This was unique, complex, and really fascinating. One of the best Carricantes I’ve had (indeed I’ve had very few). Hugely superior to the fairly anonymous California grown Centennial Mountain Carricante Aeris is making. I applaud what the Rhys team is doing with these varietals - I went to this tasting to catch up on these experiments - but they have a long way to go to make wines worth buying.
