November 12, 2022 - With deep garnet, the bouquet yields shoe polish, polished leather desk and church pews. As it opens, there is roast beef, marinated plums and red cherry with a touch of tangerine peel and brown sugar crystals.
With a sweetly succulent texture, this mid-bodied CNP is filled with molasses, humbug sweets, balsamic, black pepper, black plum compote and a twist of spice. Whilst the extract is heightened by generous alcohol, there is enough sweetness to counter. The tannins almost feel shapeless, and the structure lacking, possibly as the acid is relatively low? Indeed, the sweet, rich fruit coats it. The finish, however, rises with cayenne pepper heat and feels somewhat drying, hot and bothered. I wanted to like it more. -

January 8, 2022 - Mid garnet to orange rim
Umami bouquet with dry spices, dust, marmite, earth and dried pottery clay. There are black fruits over red with dried black cherry or plum, mineral, roasted herbs, smoke and Xmas spices, especially star anise and nutmeg.
Medium-bodied, the entry is rich with a liquorice stick note, a firm texture with sour acid elements and flavours of leather, black cherry, plenty of spices leading to a hot paprika note, pencil shavings and pepper-encrusted fillet steak!
Bone dry impression, the mid-palate has lots of mineral and granitic chips, garrigue scrub and wild fennel. Generous at 14.5% alcohol and warming, the tannins are firm, and the wine robust. It isn't an elegant wine being more top-heavy, but it is a lovely example of CNP. The finish is medium with a cherry schnapps element. -

January 29, 2018 - The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.

November 10, 2016 - Full mature, this ready to go, delicious wine serves up a blast of sweet, juicy, fresh, kirsch, garrigue and thyme, with soft textures and a fresh, open, cherry filled finish.
