February 25, 2024 - What a pleasant surprise. 4 bottle out of 6, and the first i have truly enjoyed. Fully integrated tanins, no alcoholic Burn. Just Nicely evolved cdp. Drink up though.

    April 23, 2018 - -- Coravin-ed --
    -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --

NOSE: expressive; red-fruited; leathery; garrigué/CdP goodness!; cherry/raspberry cordial; grape soda after a couple hours.

BODY: lots of fine particulate matter present; impenetrable blood red color of great depth; medium-full bodied.

TASTE: bitter; medicinal red fruits; alcohol stands-out a lot; the alcohol presence makes this tough to like; a difficult conundrum here: this is ageing nicely as far as the aromatics go, but seems to be progressing poorly with respect to flavor; this did improve over the course of a couple hours (in the glass, and, I suppose, my palate getting used to the wine), but it nonetheless remained quite alcoholic. Hopefully this is in an awkward stage right now.

    50, 5, 13, 13, 6 = 87

update: pulled the cork last night (5/30/18). Immediate drain pour. Oxidized. And the wine underneath the oxidation still wasn't good, either. Maybe 5 weeks was too long to let this sit after the Coravin? Maybe I didn't use enough gas when using the Coravin?

February 18, 2018 - Served with pan fried rib eye, squash, and popovers.
Decanted 30 minutes prior to service.
Deep, dark crimson/garnet, purple at the rim.
Earthy, dusty nose, very dark fruit.
Tannins remain, but not dominant, dry, moderate acid, mushrooms with the earthiness, and as noted elsewhere a touch of coffee.
Needs more depth of flavor, and length of finish, to crack into 90 territory.

January 1, 2018 - Fairly dark red. Intense aged Rhone nose, dark fruit, roasted meat, pepper, earthy cherry, and thyme. Delicious dry peppery black cherry flavours and a perfect in balance finish.

Just what I love in a Southern Rhone wine but lately have not always found.

    November 14, 2017 - 70% Grenache 30% Mourvèdre

Espresso coffee, sweet cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, big tannin still, with detectable acid structure (surprisingly especially for CdP). Superb wine. Will hold for 5 more years but I wouldn't wait beyond that. 91.

(Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Dark purple violet color; higher pitched, ripe and spicy cherry and berry nose with some caramel oak notes, opens to more spicy plum nose after 40 minutes; concentrated spicy plum palate with graphite, needs a few years; medium-plus finish

(Mas de BOISLAUZON) List Dear Friends, A few interesting wines have appeared before the weekend takes hold - we have an especially good price on the Bollinger and the Boislauzon wines are among the best of the entire 2006 vintage. Enjoy the weekend - - Jon Rimmerman *************************** Friday Focus Wine: ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price - about the same as in Europe directly from the source with perfect provenance: 2003 Bollinger "by Bollinger" (RP95) STRICT LIMIT 12/person This wine has received a great deal of chatter recently after Parker's 95pt assessment on his Asian foray (documented on his web site). I believe this was one of the highest rated bottles of Champagne on his entire trip (and he tasted top bottles left and right, every night). Called a "white burgundy with bubbles" this Champagne is idiosyncratic, eccentric and one of a kind - that's why they named it as such ("by Bollinger" instead of just another Grande Annee). Controversial? Maybe but there is a huge contingent out there that could drink this every night. Batard mixed with a ripe Clos du Mesnil? If you close your eyes, it's possible. This is not the Grande Annee - "by Bollinger" is the winery's top cuvee in 2003. **************************** 2003 La Ca Nova Barbaresco "Bric Mentina" (this is not Valfieri) This wine will surprise a lot of you - very intense and packed with flavor but ready to drink now and over the next several years. Cru-level Barbaresco at a good price while you wait for your 2001's and 2004's... 2006 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf du Pape LIMIT 12/person 2006 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf du Pape "Tintot" EXTREMELY LIMITED This is the crown jewel in 2006, a 100% Mouvedre cuvee that has been like pulling teeth for me to obtain even a few bottles. Only a few dozen cases for the entire US... 2006 Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf du Pape "Cuvee de Quet" Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Champ7600 Italy7709 Rhone6610 Rhone6620 Rhine6630
