June 17, 2022 - Lunch at La Trompette: Similar to the Chapoutier in terms of style but a little more rustic. Tannins are coarser and needs more time to mellow out. Glad to have tried this producer as I don’t think I have had it before.

June 17, 2022 - Melvin's La Trompette Lunch (La Trompette, Chiswick, London): Slightly dull red in colour and with forest floor, cassis, and red berries on the nose. Comes over as quite youthful, with velvety tannins and crunchy red fruits and great purity on the mid-palate whilst remaining fresh and with good acid balance. A little oak is discernible but not out of place. Quite a lot of structure noticeable on the finish so whilst this is a wine to drink now, it would be interesting to follow its further evolution.

November 21, 2020 - very dark, too much acidity with not enough fruit, also not very long. maybe an off bottle?

November 24, 2018 - Drank over five hours.

Ruddy burgundy in color. Full bodied.
Light oak, raspberries, pencil lead. Subtle nose.
Dry, cigar box, red berries. Some ashy woody notes. Well balanced with a medium plus finish.

I drank this same bottle over two years ago and was not that impressed. This one has been a profoundly different experience. Lot's of flavor, balance, and depth. It came from the same case, so I can't explain how it is that much better than the previous bottle. Very much enjoyed this bottle.
