June 24, 2018 - Stand this up for at least a day before opening and decant for at least two to three hours.

Initially some VA which blew off. Dried rose petals, forest floor, dried herbs, dried mushrooms and sweet fruits and a hint of jersey caramels on the nose.

Good acid and fine tannins in the mouth. Sweet fruit and earthiness. Long finish.

Very well balanced. A good wine.

Lots of sludge in the bottle. Handling and decanting this properly is going to be important!

June 9, 2018 - Decanted x 1 hour and then tasted over another hour. Reddish brown color. Typical nose of older nebbiolo of musty earth. Flavors of earth, truffle, mushroom, hints of dried cherry, dried roses, and orange peel. Overtime the back end displayed some dry cedar notes.

October 29, 2017 - Stood up in wine fridge for ~2 months. Finally decided to pop this. Decanted off fine sediment and put in bottom of wine fridge. At 4h after decant, still somewhat shut down with mostly volatile acids, dry leaves and earth Really started to open up 5h after decant as the wine warmed up. Now 6h after decant, hint of volatile acids, dried cherries, roses, and earth aromas. Dried cherries, sweet bark, earth, hint of dark caramel with moderate tannins on midpalate. Finishes with dried cherries, earth and dark caramel. Elegant, lithe mouthfeel followed by the tannins. Beautiful with simple medium rare grass-fed steak. I would give 87 at 4h after decant then continued to improve, and now 91 at the 6h after decant. Definitely on the downslope, but a graceful multi-hued autumn.

April 25, 2017 - The Rotating Dinners, I.9: Produttori Normale (Chicago, IL): Stewy and muddy, and significantly marred by tons of volatile acidity. No discernible flaw, this is just what wine that is long past its sell-by date tastes like.
