February 9, 2024 - This was unfortunately a vintage where Tom Litwan suffered severe losses with only ¼ of the usual yields. This meant that instead of the separate vineyard cuvées, only one white and one red was made. This was the coolest Spring and latest budbreak since 2013. I’m a big fan of the estate, especially the Chalofe. But this vintage cuvée came across metallic with a weirdly unripe fruit. This was mirrored on palate which also showed grainy tannin and felt unbalanced. Early days and time may yet help to fix some of the issues, but I don’t have much hope.
