March 6, 2023 - It may have had better days when younger but it still represents the minerality and terrior of an incredibly well made Helen Turley chardonnay. Golden straw color with stone and varietal notes on the nose and palate. Incredibly long finish. Drink up.

October 22, 2010 - Lacking. Heavy alcohol nose even after open for an hour +. This masks what should be a nicer nose, honeysuckle comghtly
    comes on lightly.

Not a 94 point chardonnay in our opinion. It's just not elegant enough. The oak is there, but not much else.

August 20, 2009 - Dinner with Greg and Sayo (Their Place, Hong Kong): Rich golden colour. Big oaky, minerally nose with ripe melon and ripe pineapple Thick and glyceriney on the palate but not unpleasantly so, with similar taste to the nose plus some fresh figs. A big wine but not flabby. Some length. Went well with the moules marinieres and with the fresh french oysters but rather monolithic. Too heavy to drink without food.

March 2, 2009 - Good but not great. After bottles of Aubert and Kongsgaard chardonnay, this seemed a little simple, without nearly the depth of flavor of those wines. Not a heavy wine, a little surprising to me for Martinelli. That could actually lead other tasters to prefer this wine but it's not the house style I expect here, for better or worse. At 14.4, lower alcohol too than I'd have expected at this address, but tasting it confirmed it.

March 1, 2009 - I am really sorry. I had such high hopes for Martinelli. I bought a bunch of their wines, and have been really disappointed. I got the new release order form in the mail and I just threw it away. There is nothing on the nose, and less on the palate. The good news is, others are doing so much better.
