April 25, 2024 - Retail $50. Ridiculously Light Bottle (493g; 1lb 1.4oz). Under cork. My last Arizona wine (at lest for now) and I was more than trepidatious; Petite Sirah is far from my favorite variety. Usually, I find it dark, brooding, and teeth staining. Yes, it is inky magenta in the glass, which and viscous with rather intense blackberry and plum but it is relatively low in alcohol for a PS (13.9%--I said relative) and the palate, while fruity and expressive, is more reserved than an average California PS. Don't get me wrong, this is still full-blown Petite Sirah, it's just not your "typical" *overblown* PS.

February 13, 2024 - Arizona wines: Dark purple. The nose shows a dense but warm and friendly mix of fig paste, boysenberry, wild blueberries, and the fruit is tossed with a lovely mix of anise, black pepper, coffee grounds, charcoal, and even some cinnamon and ginger nuances. The palate is rich a bold but the acidity is vibrant, balancing things nicely, while the dark fruit sings (black currants, plum sauce, roasted figs). The non-fruit tones offer a lot to love, with tar, coffee grounds, mocha, toffee, some mineral and graphite vibes. Long finish with smoky earth and herbs. A dark but delightful PS that holds itself well and should age nicely, too. Arizona has a knack for this variety for sure.

December 13, 2023 - Deep plum robe. Dark plum, vanilla, blue fruit nose.
MB. Attack: Aromatic plum, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, stemmy, slight white pepper on the palate. Lingering finish. A/T+. Mildly stringent rules tannins.

December 9, 2023 - Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose with cedar, black fruits, Indian spices and chocolate notes.

Full-bodied and elegant, with medium acidity.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, cherries, licorice, light vanilla, figs, tobacco, chocolates, dark coffee and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is an interesting Petite Sirah from Arizona. Easy drinking and good right out of the bottle.

Smooth and rich with nice balance. Fruit forward and very chocolatey.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the beautiful nose.

Delicious right now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolves.

    13.9% alcohol by volume.

    92 points.

    $65.
