July 29, 2022 - Burgundy Wimps (La Trompette, Chiswick): 2/3. Medium ruby/garnet, purple fruits, meaty notes, soil. Medium bodied, juicy purple fruits at the core, meaty notes, soil, vibrant acidity, long slightly grippy finish. This is excellent and now drinking well.

February 25, 2022 - From 75cl, optically perfect cork, decanted 1 hour. Quite dark-coloured. Some mustiness—don't trust that cork, but also some redeeming forest floor and fresh earth. Medium-bodied entry; coarse-textured mid-palate; raw-tannic, unrefined finish. Miserable value for the 57 EUR paid back in 2012, obscenely overpriced at current market value. Please avoid, re-sell if possible, and buy something nice instead (Au Bon Climat? Felton Road? A good Assmanshauser? Oregon?) 87–88P

February 23, 2022 - Cloudy color. Very medicinal nose here, iodine, peat, sour cherry. Dense and tannic but the tannins are not drying. Good, definitely a food wine.

July 14, 2021 - Wanted to love this. Definitely in an awkward spot. Not super expressive. Just shut down and tannic. Tons of muscle but not enought grace. Revisit in a few years. Red cherry, mulberry, damp earth. Good but not worth the money at this time.

July 4, 2021 - Slow-oxed for two hours, then decanted. Deep ruby colour. Rather tight at the beginning, but opening up decisively after an hour or so, showing raspberries, strawberries, but also red cherries, herbs and damp leaves. Quite complex on the palate, with layers of red fruit, black cherries, underbrush and mushrooms around a core of fine tannins and minerals. Good length.

Overall a beautiful, light footed Gevrey, good to be enjoyed now, but with the potential to become even more delicate within the next three years.

(Bachelet Denis Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux) Medium, medium-plus colour. The nose is a little more diffuse than the Fourrier Goulots that precedes it, but has a little extra coffee dimension. Good concentration, plush but plenty of tannin clings to your gums, a little astringent too. Nigh high-toned fruit. Will need longer in the cellar than the Goulots but has plenty of potential.
