February 20, 2017 - this wine is a textbook example of the benefits of extended cellaring; when we finally got around to opening it (vinturied and let stand for a short time), the results were unexpectedly excellent; note that other raters tended to give more points the longer they held off drinking it; 13.5% alcohol, medium red/brown, medium to long legs, fruit forward nose -- notes of prunes/plums; a complex Merlot, 12 years has softened the tannins to a pleasant mélange of prunes and ripe bing cherries -- sweetness balanced against (or overlaying) flatness; medium finish; pair with lamb, moussaka, aged cheddar

June 7, 2010 - A very solid Merlot for the price. Ran through the Venturi, beautiful bouquet of fruit and some chocolate....little heat, medium finish.

April 27, 2010 - Visiting Sebastiani for the first time whilst looking for wedding venues, we were very impressed with their historic barrel hall… oh, and their wines of course!

This low end Merlot was made from a blend of 83% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Syrah, 3% Malbec, 2% Petite Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petite Sirah this wine was aged in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for 9 months.

Grapes were sourced from Madrone Ranch, Batto and Cherryblock vineyards in the Sonoma Valley, Rancho Miguel and Lyon vineyards in the Alexander Valley and the Bedford Ranch vineyard in Dry Creek.

Vibrant purple in the glass, I found blueberry, spice and striking match aromas on the nose. The palate is full bodied, with rich plum characters, well-integrated oak and tasty savoury finish. At $15/£10 it's excellent value. 89 points

    Awards include:
88 points from the Wine News (October/November 2008)
Gold Medal- 2008 Long Beach Grand Cru Wine Competition
Silver Medal- 2008 Sonoma County Harvest Fair

December 31, 2009 - plenty of raspberry, plus some cherries and chocolate notes; medoum body velvety tannins; points are there for taste, but lacked finish

(Sebastiani Sonoma Merlot) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a vegetal component coming through which I like; English pea meets broccoli top; also some good dried cranberry action and some oak; PALATE-not bad, kind of light as well; some good fruit; serviceable, but just not great; CG-86; GV-85
