December 6, 2014 - The Thirteenth Annual Stonefields Dinner (Guelph, Ontario, Canada): A legend....supposedly Aubert de Villaine's favourite vintage of Romanee Conti.
This wine is so present and accounted for...it is going no where. Purchased from the Doris Duke Collection (wines brought over from France in the late 1930s pre-WWII and stored impeccably) this wine exhibited dried flowers, soy, earth, minerals, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, flowers and stems.
On the palate this was so rich and lush with white pepper, cherry, stems, dried flowers, soy, earth, minerals, raspberry and strawberry. Palate is so complex....with layers of flavour. So much going on but also so focused and "together"
Finish is never ending...finished only by the next sip. Wow, a legend. Humbled again.1 person found this helpful Comment -

January 25, 2009 - Pouring this into a glass is a treat and a half, its a deep Garnet-Amber-Brown. Overall, nose is earthy wet leather, some barnyard and dried fruit. Now I wasn't writing any specific notes while drinking this but can certainly recall walnuts with an earthy depth, rusty, no real fruit at this point, refined and smooth. Freak'n amazing. You can't score this, its well beyond that.
