October 28, 2023 - Finally a good bottle from a suspect auction lot. This showed red cherry, sour cherry, and dark plum notes with lots of earthiness and garigue.

October 26, 2023 - il semblait encore bien vivant avec une belle texture, mais malheureusement bouchonné. :(

March 11, 2023 - Bought on auction recently. Bottle and cork in good condition. Medium garnet colour, some sediment. Red fruit, strawberry, thyme, garrigue, liquorice, sous bois, and spices, with medium-level acidity, mostly resolved tannin, and good length. Restrained upon opening, understated even, in particular for CdP. After one hour in a decanter, the wine starts to open up and becomes a little darker, more mineral, and more balsamic, if still restrained. Fully open after two hours of aeration. Good balance. Classic style. Drink now with at least one hour of aeration, or hold.

February 22, 2023 - Simon Beatty Memorial Dinner - Chablis Le Clos (Noizé): We are getting deep into the evening now - it's not so much that the senses are dulled, but rather the conviviality and spirit of the evening is more joyous than contemplative. With that said, it's a savoury treat to go back to red Chateuneuf, something I loved earlier in my wine career. I was struck by how much the pleasure this gives is similar to that of Musar - a kind of non-tannic, non-acidic structure.

February 21, 2023 - Simon Beatty Memorial Dinner - Les Clos table (Noize): I'm a huge fan of mature CNDP, and this delivered on that expectation. Nicely ripe and rounded, leafy sous bois, soft red fruit - like a warm hug.

(Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Faint Kirsch nose; odd entry, soft, rose-laced fruit with cherry and sous bois undertones, lemon acid; short-medium finish (90% Grenache, 5% Mourvedre, 5% Vaccarese)

(Domaine Charvin Chateauneuf-du-Pape) What a nose! Spice, gravel. stones, paprika, cherries, raspberry, blood orange and on and on . . .Could keep smelling this all day. Ripe and juicy with tremendous concentration. Layers of fruit but a little reserved on the finish. Tannins show themselves on the finish along with a citrus tang. This has so much material in reserve. I would wait 10 years.
