Community Tasting Notes 3

April 7, 2017 - Ripe blackberries and marionberries on the nose, with dashes of mint and chocolate. Mature marionberries up front, with building caramel-mocha oak in the mid palate. I think the oak may have been overwhelming in its youth, but it's integrated and calm now. This was better than the Achaval-Ferrer, possibly just because of the age and integration.

December 29, 2011 - I've tasted this bottle over 2 days and it did improve significantly on day 2. Mint and Anise nose. Smooth tasty palate. Great PQR at $9... I wish I had grabbed more!!

November 15, 2009 - Dark clouded purple, heavy extraction. A slightly closed nose at first, decanting required to open up the rich coffee grounds and chalky mineral tones. A full layered body, huge dominating ripe tannins, medium acid. Full fruit, cherry and dark berry. Mid palate shows a strong oak presence with a trace of mint. Long finish. A big wine with big fruit but the oak shows a strong hand that takes some character out of the malbec.
