February 8, 2024 - Tasting at Deep Woods, once of the regions larger land holders, their estate wines showed good QPR, however their flag ship Chardonnay Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were the real deal, all showed this wonderful creamy mid-palate.
Not sure I get WA obsession with Malbec, I feel it does not quite ripen well enough here, this showed plenty of dark blackcurrant, chocolate, mocha, green peppercorn and green spices. The palate was plump, sightly creamy but a little too green for me with eucalyptus and thyme along with the dark cassis and plump. the mid-palate turned very dry and I felt this had a little too much oak.
