February 18, 2023 - The two recent notes seem unnecessarily apocalyptic. The bottle we shared last night was in great shape - plenty of fruit with a hint of vanilla oak. Some development, yes, but to me, this bottle was still in its prime. One last bottle in the cellar and I think there's plenty of time left to broach it.

March 26, 2022 - Second in a flight of 8. This wine is just past it’s prime and on the way down.

May 24, 2020 - With about 30 minutes of air... drinkable... but this is clearly, clearly past peak. Purchased in 2009 and kept at 53F ever since with an immaculate cork and no signs of leakage, there are early and slight hints of oxidation/tewed fruit/tertiary flavors, practically entirely resolved tannins, both of which are great... but when set alongside the ghostly remains of bordeaux fruit, now thin and gaunt, along with near-nonexistent acidity, it paints a picture of what was likely a very nice wine in the past that saw better days likely 2-3 years ago before falling off. This does not strike me as a flawed bottle, but a tired one. If you have any bottles of this, drink up and give them a try. I would be interested to see if there is any life left in any other bottles at this point.

November 10, 2017 - A lot of fruit still here, dusty tannins, good finish. great value.

April 15, 2017 - Dark fruit, still fresh, good acidity and medium finish. Maybe a bit of alcohol at the end ? Good value.

(PRIMA Carignan) Prima Dear Friends, This is a quintessential example of why 2005 Bordeaux still represents one of the best overall bargains in the wine-world. No, I’m not crazy - wine of this stature, at this price, is not very easy to find in the Cabernet dominated wine regions of the globe and certainly not in one of the a top vintages of the last 50 years. Directly across the Gironde from Pessac-Leognan (Haut Brion and La Mission), this Right Bank estate has the upper echelon in its sights. They are not a household name at present but that should change in the next month or so. The Prima is Chateau Carignan’s best wine from 40-60 year old organically raised Merlot and Cabernet vines and it is one we’ve watched since the original barrel tastings two years ago. This wine keeps improving and, now in bottle, the promise has been realized - it shows the deft touch of a woman winemaker intent on expressing the intensity of the vintage but retaining the cool climate origins of Bordeaux. It is a top 2005 bargain that should last for at least 10-15 years and be approachable during the entire course of its life. The finest quality for a reasonable price - that’s what 2005 Bordeaux is all about - not the $400 wines: We have a terrific price on this wine, even lower than at the winery cellar door. If you are interested in Bordeaux that few will have the chance to own, this wine is in very limited distribution. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance 2005 Chateau Carignan Premier Cotes de Bordeaux Prima FIRST COME FIRST SERVED at this price up to 12/person until we run out Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord7370
