September 23, 2022 - This wine is a noble version of Nero d'Avola, with an impenetrable ruby red color. The enveloping bouquet embraces us with fruity, sweet and ripe scents with balsamic and floral notes of violet on slight tobacco accent at the close. Wine that shows great structure on the palate and remarkable personality. The alcohol blends into the soft tannins in a convincing balance. The taste-olfactory response is long and perfect.

May 14, 2022 - After 17y it looks perfect, for me one of the best interpretationsof Sicily wine. It's have an impenetrable ruby red color. Fruity, sweet and ripe scents with balsamic and floral notes of violet on a slight accent of tobacco at the end. Wine wich shows great structure to the taste and remarkable personality. The alcohol blends into the soft tannins in a convincing balance. Long and perfect ending.

May 9, 2016 - Sicily-Tasting, Flight 4, Wine 3: This wine was opaque dark ruby in colour and offered a stinky nose of dark fruit, sauerkraut and a hint of chocolate. On the palate the balanced, medium-bodied wine showed red and dark fruit, dark cherry and chocolate flavours as well as vegetal and mild herbal notes, with medium-level acidity, medium to medium-plus tannin and very good length. A solid red and there is not much to complain about, I am just thinking that at the same price one could get so many wines with more character...

(Donnafugata Mille e una Notte, Contessa Entellina, Sicily) Mille e una Notte, or “1,001 nights,” is a spectacular Nero d’Avola from one of Sicily’s best small-family producers. Aged 14-16 months in small French barriques, this sleek Sicilian red displays flavors of black plum, currant, and cranberry fruit, along with notes of white pepper, savory herb, and earth. The beautiful label was designed by owner Gabriella Anca Rallo. Should be good for 12-15 years. Hot Picks
